Beloved Dryden Resident Betty Martin, 93, Passes Away Peacefully

The community of Dryden, Michigan, recently bid farewell to a beloved matriarch, Betty Martin, who passed away on August 5, 2025, at the McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital at the age of 93. Born Betty Jane Green on February 6, 1932, in Fremont, Ohio, Betty was known for her caring spirit and vibrant personality. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Nettie (Nesbitt) Green, having grown up in Fremont and attended Fremont High School before embarking on a lifelong journey of service to her family and community.

Betty took a significant step in her life when she married Ray Martin on July 28, 1950, in Gibsonburg, Ohio. The couple made their home in the Almont and Dryden areas starting in 1968. Betty’s passing followed the loss of her husband, Ray, who left this world on February 7, 2017. However, Betty’s life was not without its heartaches; she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Danielle Mae Caron, son Douglas George Martin, daughter Julie Ann Martin, as well as her siblings Alice, Ruth, Rosie, Patricia, and Cliff.
