Georgia Tech-Savannah Welcomes New Faces: Meet the Team!

Exciting developments are on the horizon at Georgia Tech-Savannah as the institution welcomes three new staff members into its fold. Susan Daly, Patrice Elmore, and Gabriella Fischer have joined the team, bringing a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to their respective roles. Diane Lee, the executive director of Georgia Tech Savannah, is thrilled about these appointments, praising their professionalism and dedication to education.

Susan Daly assumes the position of Competition and Outreach Coordinator for CEISMC Programs. With an EdS in Instructional Technology, an MS in Curriculum and Instruction, and a BS in Elementary Education, she is well-equipped for her new role. Daly’s extensive background in elementary education includes stints as a classroom teacher, STEM Lab Instructor, and Gifted Facilitator. Most recently, she served as a STEAM Thematic Specialist in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School District. Notably, she has played a pivotal role in supporting local schools in initiatives such as the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge and the Elementary Science Olympiad, making her a valuable asset for K-12 outreach programs at Georgia Tech Savannah.

Bringing Experience and Expertise

Patrice Elmore joins the team as Administrative Professional Senior. With over 30 years of professional experience, including roles as Executive Assistant and Office Manager, she brings a well-rounded skill set to the position. Elmore’s educational background includes attending St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida, where she honed her abilities in high-level administrative services such as calendar coordination, budget administration, and event organization. Her expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the efficiency of day-to-day operations.

Meanwhile, Gabriella Fischer steps in as Program Manager for Professional Education. Armed with a Master of Education in Student Personnel in Higher Education and a BA in English, Fischer has held several esteemed positions, including Vice Chancellor for Student Services at South College and Dean of Student Affairs at South University. She will be responsible for advising and managing Professional Education short courses in key areas such as Leadership, Occupational Safety and Health, and Project Management. Given her extensive background, it’s easy to see why she is considered a strong addition to the team.

The backdrop of these appointments is a vibrant educational landscape, particularly relevant considering the role of the Georgia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Established in 1937, this Board aims to protect life, health, and property while promoting public welfare. It is responsible for setting standards for licensure and maintaining professional conduct among licensees in Georgia. The Board comprises nine members appointed by the Governor, overseeing everything from application reviews to discipline related to unethical practices. In a significant move, Governor Brian Kemp signed HB 476 in May 2022, establishing the Georgia Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Board, thus enhancing regulatory frameworks in the state.
