Miami, Florida, USA - In a groundbreaking move for the legal landscape in Florida, three sitting Black women lawmakers have come together to launch a historic law firm, BDGR, P.A. State Representatives LaVon Bracy Davis, Ashley Gantt, and Michele Rayner are the driving forces behind this initiative, which was announced on Juneteenth, a day that holds significant meaning as it commemorates the end of slavery. This firm is poised to make waves in the legal community, focusing on advancing justice and equity across the state.

BDGR, an acronym derived from the initials of the three legislators‘ last names, offers a host of legal services, including civil rights, criminal defense, family law, estate planning, and government affairs. The firm’s mission underscores the belief that access to justice is a right, not a privilege. They aim to provide impactful representation by leveraging their legal expertise and community experiences to serve a diverse clientele while focusing on bolstering Black causes.

Focused Expertise

With decades of combined experience as public defenders, civil rights attorneys, and community leaders, the partners at BDGR bring a wealth of knowledge to their practice. Davis specializes in family, community, and government law and has a background with the Florida Department of Children and Families. Gantt, well-known for founding a law firm led by Black women in 2021, centers her practice on civil litigation, probate law, estate planning, and education equity. Meanwhile, Rayner stands at the forefront of civil rights law, advocating for social justice and criminal defense.

Benjamin Crump, a prominent civil rights lawyer, has openly supported BDGR, praising the partners‘ commitment to their communities and the significant impact they aim to have in addressing pressing civil rights issues, reproductive justice, and community autonomy.

Looking Ahead

BDGR will set up offices in key Florida locations, including Tampa Bay, Orlando, and Miami, making its legal expertise accessible to many. The firm aims to transform lives and protect rights while fighting for justice, truly living up to its commitment to principled leadership and public service.

In an age where social and racial justice remains paramount, firms like BDGR are crucial. Their establishment demonstrates a shift in the legal fabric, highlighting the importance of representation and the power of collective action. As the firm carves out its niche, it stands as a beacon of hope for many, embodying the motto, „rooted in service and driven by justice.“
