Jaxon Mitchell, a budding athlete from Everglades Elementary in Palm Beach County, found himself at the center of excitement during the Miami Dolphins preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. WPTV reports that Jaxon, who started playing flag football in kindergarten, was invited to the grand opening ceremony for the game after impressing at the Miami Dolphins All-Star Game earlier this year, where he won the 40-yard dash for his age group.

In 2023, 26 teams participated from 19 Miami-Dade Parks, showcasing the increasing popularity of flag football among the youth.
