Daytona Beach, USA - As the calendar turns to July 2, 2025, an exciting call to action echoes across Volusia and Flagler counties: nominations for the prestigious 20th Annual Women in Business Awards are officially open! This celebratory event, hosted by the Daytona Beach News-Journal alongside LocaliQ, honors remarkable women who make a difference in our communities through their leadership, innovation, and service. The awards ceremony is set for October 28, 2025, at the Renaissance Daytona Beach Oceanfront Hotel, promising a day filled with inspiration and recognition.

With nominations open until July 31, 2025, countless meritorious women are encouraged to step forward. Each nominee must either live or work within the Volusia-Flagler area and demonstrate a significant impact within the community. Nominees will receive a reply with a questionnaire to be completed by August 1, along with a request for a high-resolution headshot. It’s important to note that submitting multiple nominations for an individual does not influence the final selection process.

Celebrating Diversity and Impact

This year, the awards will continue a long-standing tradition of showcasing extraordinary talent. Over the past two decades, more than 500 women have been recognized for their contributions. Notable nominees this year include Amanda Hayes-Blocksom from Aurion Wealth Advisors, Ashley Davis representing Daytona State College, and Brejoya Smarr from Daytona Beach Music Academy, among many others. This rich tapestry of influences underscores the vibrant role women play in our local businesses and communities. A full list of nominees can be found at Localiqevents.

Last October, we witnessed a remarkable event when the Most Influential Woman of 2024 was announced during the annual Influential Women in Business luncheon. This recognition is more than just an accolade; it affirms the impact women can have in shaping our local landscape and inspires future generations. The event serves as a platform for women to network, celebrate their achievements, and share their stories.

A Legacy of Honor

Speaking of honoring achievements, it’s worth reflecting on last year’s winners. During the 2022 event, Brown & Brown Insurance lauded several powerful women from our region, with Corrine Leslie Heck of Details Flowers Software receiving the Most Charitable Woman of the Year award. Other celebrated individuals included Angelina Strickhouser from Alberto’s Pizza Shop and Joyce Shanahan from the City of Ormond Beach. These awards illustrate the diverse talents within our communities and the dedication each honoree has towards enhancing the lives of others.

As we approach this year’s event, pride swells in our local women and their accomplishments. For example, Corrine’s story of success, shared widely, reminds us that leadership and community spirit are often intertwined. Influential women like her pave the way for aspiring leaders and bring our communities closer together.

With nominations currently open, now is the perfect time to spotlight the women in your life who are making an impact. Whether through professional accomplishments, community service, or mentorship, every effort counts. Interested in sponsorship?
