In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Blessings of Hope Empowerment Outreach (BHEO) in Havana celebrated its annual Senior Fan Drive, successfully collecting over 120 fans to keep seniors cool during the sweltering summer months. On August 12, 2025, BHEO announced plans for a free fan giveaway event specifically for seniors aged 55 and above. Taking place at the Hazel Baker Community Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., this event aims to provide relief to elderly residents who may be struggling with the heat. Anissa Butler, the President of BHEO, shared her own experience of coping without air conditioning, stressing the importance of staying cool, particularly for vulnerable seniors. Donations are still being accepted until Friday, with drop-offs available at the Havana Police Department, according to WTXL.
