Fort Myers, Florida, USA - American Airlines continues to ramp up its operation at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), announcing three exciting new nonstop destinations that travelers can look forward to. With plans to enhance its already impressive network, this airline is ensuring that vacationers and business travelers alike have more options at their fingertips.

Starting June 30, travelers will be able to book flights to Fort Myers, Florida; Santa Maria, California; and Sun Valley, Idaho, expanding American’s reach across the U.S. The new routes are part of a broader strategy where American Airlines aims to solidify its position as the largest airline in the Valley, boasting the most nonstop services by the end of 2025, as ABC15 reports.

The New Destinations

First up is Fort Myers, an inviting destination famed for its beautiful beaches and historical winter estates, including those of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. The seasonal service will kick off with daily flights operating from November 20 to December 3 and resuming from December 18 to January 6, 2026.

Santa Maria stands out as a year-round gem, beginning its operation with twice-daily flights from October 15, 2025. Known for its wineries and picturesque surroundings near San Luis Obispo and Solvang, it’s a must-visit for those in search of exceptional wine and stunning landscapes.

Last but certainly not least is Sun Valley, recognized for its exquisite skiing options and outdoor activities. The daily seasonal service will be available from December 18 to April 6, 2026, catering to ski enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Boosting Travel Experience

These new routes are not merely about expanding American Airlines’ footprint; they play a pivotal role in tapping into popular tourist spots that drive demand for beach, ski, and wine tourism, as highlighted by AZCentral. The focus on enhancing travel experience doesn’t stop there; American Airlines is also launching free Wi-Fi for AAdvantage members, joining other major airlines like United and Delta in providing passengers with improved connectivity.

With over 21.5 million arrivals and departures recorded in 2024, American Airlines is continually working to meet the growing demand by providing more flight choices and better services. Additionally, in February 2025, the airline will introduce routes to Tijuana, Mexico, and Pasco, Washington, signaling a robust expansion plan that includes nearly 30 extra daily flights, making this the airline’s largest schedule in nearly a decade, as detailed by Sky Harbor.

As American Airlines adds more options to its growing portfolio, it undoubtedly opens the door for more travel opportunities from Arizona to scenic locales across the U.S. So, whether you’re planning a winter escape or a summer wine tour, American Airlines has you covered.
