Join the 20th Annual Sustainable Workshop: Innovate for Our Future!
As communities across Florida grapple with the environmental changes that impact daily life, the 20th Annual Sustainable Communities Workshop promises to shine a light on essential strategies for a sustainable future. Scheduled for November 6, 2025, the workshop will take place at the Harvest House Learning Enrichment Campus, offering both in-person and virtual attendance options. The theme, „Then, Now, Next: 20 Years of Sustainable Communities,“ reflects a commitment to examining past achievements while envisioning future possibilities.
This year’s event will delve into a diverse range of topics, including resilient architecture, sustainable business practices, and effective climate communication. With 250 in-person tickets available, early bird registration is set at $45 until September 26, 2025, jumping to $55 thereafter. For those opting to join virtually, tickets are available at just $20, while student tickets are a mere $5. Attendees are encouraged to log in at least five minutes before the start time to ensure a smooth experience during this enriching event. Continuing Education and Professional Growth
As the architectural and construction industries evolve, professionals are urged to stay informed about the latest sustainable design trends. A multi-part live continuing education series is set to provide valuable training for architects, led by Rob Fleming, a celebrated educator and LEED-accredited architect. This series not only aims to enhance participants‘ design charrette skills but also emphasizes environmentally friendly practices, including net-zero carbon design. The workshops, with courses planned for May and June 2025, offer substantial credits towards professional certifications
- Master Class Part 1: Three one-hour sessions focused on sustainable design charrettes. Registration is $150 for the public, $100 for NCARB Certificate holders.
- Master Class Part 2: Two 1.5-hour sessions that emphasize stakeholder collaboration. Total registration is $450 for the public, $375 for NCARB Certificate holders, and completion of Part 1 is required.
The design strategies explored during these workshops align with the pressing need for improvement in community health and resilience in the face of climate challenges. The architectural, construction, and engineering (AEC) sectors are currently navigating unprecedented socioeconomic changes and environmental pressures, transforming challenges into opportunities for innovative design leadership. This shift is highlighted in ongoing educational offerings that examine how to incorporate greenspaces, promote community building, and reduce building carbon footprints—approaches that are vital as cities become denser and the cost of living continues to rise.
