3001 Alhambra Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA - In a significant development for Fort Lauderdale, a 15-story boutique hotel, aptly named the 42 Hotel, is set to rise at 3001 Alhambra Street, just steps from the picturesque shoreline. The project has received site-plan approval as of Monday, paving the way for construction to commence in the fourth quarter of this year. This venture, spearheaded by a New York City-based team, aims to cater primarily to leisure travelers, with room rates projected to start at over $400 per night. The Real Deal reports that the hotel will feature a total of 75 accommodations, including standard rooms and suites, alongside a host of amenities to enhance guest experience.

The property was acquired for $2.8 million in 2022, and its grand design encompasses 90,260 gross square feet, with 28,693 square feet dedicated to lodging space.Florida YIMBY highlights that this innovative hotel will not only boast a rooftop swimming pool and bar, but will also include a fifth-floor lobby with a bar and coffee shop. Guests will have access to a mezzanine-level gym, ensuring a perfect blend of relaxation and fitness.

Design and Features

The 42 Hotel’s architectural flair will be the work of the Adache Group Architects, with interior design led by Andres Escobar. The hotel aims to capture the essence of its coastal surroundings with nautical and tropical inspirations. Round floorplates and exposed columns will create a unique aesthetic, while extensive glazing will maximize natural light and connectivity. Moreover, the design incorporates energy-efficient vertical and horizontal louver systems, catering to eco-conscious travelers.

Each room will come with private balconies, allowing guests to take in the ocean views. Suites will vary in size, ranging from 289 to 756 square feet. The hotel’s amenities will further enhance its appeal, featuring a ’sky lobby‘ on the fifth floor and an engaging amenity deck at the top of the building. Additionally, Kimley-Horn is on board as the civil engineer and landscape architect, ensuring seamless integration of the building with its environment.

In terms of accessibility, the hotel plans to offer valet-only parking in an underground garage with 47 spaces. Although Fort Lauderdale zoning regulations required a minimum of 50 spaces, the developers opted to pay $137,034 instead of constructing three additional spaces, a move approved by the city commission. This payment will help ensure that the hotel will comply with local regulations while also fostering sustainable urban development.
