Delray Beach, Florida - Delray Beach Commissioner Rob Long is off to a vigorous start in his campaign to succeed Democrat Joe Casello in House District 90, amassing over $35,000 in contributions during the last quarter. This funding is primarily drawn from the real estate sector, which makes up nearly two-thirds of the total funds raised. As of July, after spending about $11,400, Long finds himself with a robust $41,100 to continue his campaign efforts.

Major contributions that fueled this war chest include $10,000 from 3 Sleepy Elliot, a real estate LLC associated with lawyer Joseph E. White III. Additionally, $5,000 came from James Batmasian’s investment company, reflecting the close ties between local businesses and political funding. Other notable contributors include The Knight Group, Benlee Asset Management, and Lee Cohen LLC, each providing $2,000, along with Pirtle Construction Co. and Miskel Backman LLP, which donated $1,000 each. The landscape also showcases a donation of $1,500 from the lobbying firm of Ron Book, alongside about 20 personal contributions ranging from $10 to $1,000.

Spending on Strategy

In the pursuit of his electoral goals, Long’s spending has been strategically focused on consulting services. Notable expenses include $5,000 to Sunshine Strategies and $2,273 to MDW Communications for website development. Long also allocated $1,500 to Brown Financial and Consulting Services Group and $1,000 to the campaign consulting firm 1176 Inc. It’s clear that investing in a solid campaign foundation is a priority for him.

Since officially launching his campaign in February, Long has raised a total of $52,520. His long-standing ties to Delray Beach, where he has lived for over a decade, complement his background in civil engineering and business administration. As the founder and CEO of Door 2 Door Strategies and a senior loss control engineer at Risk Logic, he brings a wealth of experience to the table.

Local Ties and Community Engagement

In addition to his impressive professional background, Long’s community involvement further solidifies his local appeal. He has spent six years on the Palm Beach Soil and Water Conservation District and is currently serving on the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency Governing Board. Long has also taken on various roles on advisory boards and local organizations. His service was recognized in 2022 when he received a local public service award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies.

Notably, Long has previously served as President of the Palm Beach Young Democrats and even as a delegate for Joe Biden at the Democratic National Convention. Such experiences have undoubtedly bolstered his visibility and network within the political landscape of Florida.

Looking Ahead

House District 90, which includes parts of Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, and Highland Beach, is gearing up for a competitive electoral season. Casello, the current representative, is term-limited but has publicly endorsed Long as his preferred successor. Backed by endorsements from various local officials and state senators, Long appears well-positioned as the primary contest approaches.

The 2026 Primary is slated for August 18, with the General Election following on November 3. As candidates navigate the campaign finance waters—tracked by the Florida Division of Elections through their campaign finance database—the competitive landscape will evolve. This database provides a wealth of information, detailing contributions and expenditures that will likely shape the narrative of the upcoming elections. Since January 1, 1996, it has been a pivotal resource for both candidates and voters, as it records financial transactions tied to various political campaigns.

With nearly 27.4 million records documented from contributions made since 1995, the detailed information from Public Accountability emphasizes Florida’s robust political financial architecture. It underscores how critical funding is in determining the success of candidates like Long as they appeal to their constituencies.
