Miami-Dade Kicks Off Pride Month with Heroes Exhibit and Proclamations

North Bay Village, USA - On June 3, Miami-Dade County kicked off its LGBTQ Pride Month with an inspiring event held at the Stephen P. Clark Center. The occasion, organized by the Miami-Dade County LGBTQIA+ Advisory Board and Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, was marked by the unveiling of a new exhibit titled „Standing on the Shoulders of Heroes.“ This exhibit, provided by the Stonewall National Museum & Archives, pays homage to key figures in LGBTQIA+ history and will be on public display throughout the month of June. Mayor Levine Cava delivered heartfelt remarks, celebrating the rich tapestry of contributions made by the LGBTQ community in Miami.

The event was further distinguished by two municipal proclamations recognizing the LGBTQIA+ Advisory Board’s efforts. Miami Gardens Councilwoman Linda Julien and Miami Beach Commissioner Alex Fernandez extended their commendations, with another proclamation presented by the City of North Miami. Future presentations from the City of Miami and North Bay Village are also on the horizon, showcasing the community’s commitment to inclusivity. Longtime advocate Steve N. Adkins was also honored for his 25 years of dedicated service as president of the Miami-Dade Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
