Seminole, Florida, United States - Another milestone has been reached for Florida State University’s men’s golf program, with sophomore Tyler Weaver earning recognition as a 2025 Division I PING All-America honorable mention. The Golf Coaches Association of America announced this accolade on June 9, 2025, and Weaver is among just 27 golfers to be honored in this category this year, adding another feather to the cap of a standout season.

Weaver’s impressive performance included six top-10 finishes and a noteworthy victory at the 2025 Cabo Collegiate, where he averaged a strong 71.31 strokes per round, capped by a stunning low round of 66. His runner-up position at the 2025 ACC Championship in Bowling Green, Kentucky, showcases his competitive spirit, where he also ended the match play round with a commendable 2-1 record. Moreover, he contributed significantly to Team International in the recently concluded Arnold Palmer Cup, helping secure a 35-25 victory. Alongside FSU women’s All-American Lottie Woad, they triumphed over the U.S. duo of Anna Davis and Carson Bacha. These accomplishments have propelled him to the 28th position in worldwide amateur rankings, which is no small feat in the competitive golfing landscape.

Qualifying for the U.S. Open

Alongside his accolades, Weaver has also qualified for one of the most prestigious tournaments in golf: the U.S. Open. On “Golf’s Longest Day,” which involves playing 36 holes in a single day, Weaver stood out amongst seven Florida State golfers that participated in the final qualifying event. Competing at the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta, he finished with an impressive score of 11-under par, highlighted by shooting 67-66 and making five birdies in six holes during his second round. This impressive performance not only secured his spot at the U.S. Open but also underscored his blossoming talent and resilience on the course, as noted by On3.

Weaver joins FSU alumni Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger at the Oakmont Country Club in Pittsburgh, a course recognized as one of the toughest in the nation. The anticipation is palpable, as fans and teammates alike are eager to see how he performs on such a grand stage.

A Bright Future Ahead

Tyler Weaver’s journey in golf has been a whirlwind, showcasing not just remarkable talent, but a dedication to improvement, evident from being named the ACC freshman golfer of the year in 2024 to now qualifying for the U.S. Open. It’s a testament to his hard work and the supportive network at Florida State. With such achievements under his belt, it’s clear there’s something to be said for the bright future that awaits him and his fellow Seminoles.

As we continue to celebrate these accomplishments, let’s not forget the proud legacy of Florida State’s golf program, which has garnered a total of 59 All-America honors since 1957. This year, Luke Clanton also shone brightly, earning a spot on the NCAA Division I PING All-American First Team, marking his third All-America honor—an inspiring achievement for all current and aspiring Seminoles. With such talent coming through the ranks, Florida State’s golf community has every reason to be optimistic about what lies ahead.
