Gadsden County Star Jakobe Green Commits to Florida State Seminoles!
Quincy, Florida, USA - In a major boost for Florida State Seminoles football, offensive lineman Jakobe Green has officially committed to the program. This 6-foot-3, 335-pound powerhouse hails from Gadsden County High School in Quincy, Florida, where he’ll be wrapping up his prep career. Green is ranked as the 572nd best player nationally according to 247Sports Composite, and he holds the spot as the 50th best interior offensive lineman and 82nd in Florida overall. His impressive physical attributes and on-field performances make him a significant addition to the Seminoles‘ future roster.
What led to his decision to join Florida State? Just a day before his commitment, Green decommitted from Mississippi State. He had received offers from other notable schools including Boston College, Florida, Memphis, Miami, Ole Miss, UCF, and West Virginia before finalizing his commitment to the Seminoles. „Growing up in Quincy, Florida you always dream of being a Nole!“ said Green, highlighting the personal and emotional significance of his choice. The excitement he displayed reflects a long-standing desire to join the storied program.
Building Relationships
Green’s strong connection with the coaching staff has played a pivotal role in his recruitment. He has known head coach Mike Norvell since the eighth grade, and during his recent official visit, he was able to deepen his relationships with Coach Herb Hand and Coach Gus Malzahn. He felt confident about the coaching staff’s vision for him, which solidified his ultimate decision. The Seminoles extended a scholarship offer to Green back in May, and after a fulfilling visit, he decided it was time to commit.
This commitment marks Green as the 18th player to join Florida State’s 2026 recruiting class, which is currently ranked 13th nationally. While he is noted for his strength and capability to contribute to the team rotation in upcoming seasons, there are areas for improvement, particularly in reshaping his body to gain more muscle. In his last prep season at Niceville High School, he was known for his flexibility on the offensive line as well as excelling defensively, racking up 24 tackles, including nine for loss, and three sacks.
Eye on Future Recruits
As Florida State enhances its recruiting efforts, they are actively pursuing other talents such as Luke Francis, an offensive lineman from England. Francis recently attended a camp at FSU where he received a scholarship offer and has plans for an official visit. Interest is building around him, with several recruiting analysts forecasting a strong likelihood of him joining the Seminoles as well.
