Panama City Beach, Florida, USA - Panama City Beach is ready to help residents declutter this month with two scheduled bulk trash collection days. As part of a pilot program, locals can take advantage of this service to clear out those larger items that often sit too long in the garage or yard.

On July 7, those living east of Nautilus Street can put out their unwanted bulky items, while residents to the west will have their turn on July 14. According to News Herald, this free service is designed specifically for Panama City Beach residents. It excludes commercial businesses, apartments, and residents on private streets, ensuring that the service focuses on individual households.

What Can You Clean Out?

Eligible items for pickup include a range of bulky goods such as furniture, appliances, broken-down fences, and construction materials, which could be anything from wood and tile to carpet. However, the limitations are crucial to note: regular household trash, yard waste, and hazardous materials like batteries and paint are not accepted. The idea is to keep the community safe and the streets clear.

Residents are reminded to place their items neatly along the curb before 7 a.m. on collection days. As Panama City emphasizes, not only should items bin kept clear of obstacles such as trees and fire hydrants, but the volume should be manageable—similar to a small dumpster.

Garbage Collection Tips

In Panama City Beach, all residential and commercial locations receive a blue 96-gallon roll-out cart for garbage collection. The first cart is provided free, but additional carts can be requested for a fee. Residents are encouraged to get their carts out by 5 a.m. on collection days—ideally the night before—to ensure pickup. As per Waste Pro, if carts are not out in time, there are good chances that the waste might just remain until the next scheduled collection.

It’s also worth mentioning that heavy items and hazardous materials should not go in these carts. Homeowners can keep it simple by bagging smaller yard waste and ensuring any debris follows the city’s guidelines. From limbs no longer than four feet to small appliances, keeping everything separate makes for smooth collections.

For any residents needing to report missed pickups or seeking assistance with larger items not picked up during routine collect days, the Environmental Services Department is just a phone call away at 850-233-5100.

As the summer heats up, this initiative offers a helping hand to residents looking to clean up their homes while following the necessary guidelines to keep Panama City Beach a beautiful place to live. With the summer months in full swing, there’s definitely something to be said for a decluttered home!
