Cocoa, Florida, USA - The Florida Gators are making waves in the world of college football recruiting, and the excitement is palpable as we step into July. This is a pivotal moment for the team as it seeks to bolster its 2026 recruiting class. In June alone, Florida added 12 prospects, bringing their total commitments to a solid 14. The Gators are primed for a busy month ahead, with several high-profile recruits making decisions soon, which could shape the team’s future strategy significantly. Florida Gators on SI reports that the team is intensely focused on tracking major recruiting news, including commitments, prospects, and the all-important official visit schedule.

One standout player to watch is four-star cornerback CJ Hester from Cocoa, Florida. He is currently the frontrunner for Florida, ranked as the No. 17 corner in the 2026 class by On3. After his recent official visit, Hester expressed optimism, stating that Florida is „still trending No. 1“ among his choices, which also include Auburn, Georgia, Iowa, Miami, and Syracuse. Should Hester decide to join, it would further solidify Florida’s defensive backfield, which already features four-star safety Kaiden Hall and fellow four-star corner CJ Bronaugh.

Key Recruits and Their Commitments

As the month unfolds, more names are entering the conversation. On July 2, Florida is eyeing five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan, five-star EDGE Trenton Henderson, and four-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil. Although Morgan is currently leaning towards Alabama, he’s nonetheless a priority target for the Gators. Meanwhile, Henderson, ranked as the No. 4 edge rusher, has shifted momentum toward LSU as his frontrunner. On the other hand, Guervil is gaining traction, with predictions indicating a possible commitment to Florida.

July 3 brings former Florida commit Devin Jackson back into focus. Despite having Florida among his finalists, indications suggest he’s unlikely to recommit, as teams like LSU, Miami, Nebraska, and Oregon also vie for his attention. Then, on July 4, five-star offensive lineman Felix Ojo appears to be leaning towards other contenders such as Michigan and Texas, making Florida’s chances seem slim.

Adding to the drama, July 5 will be a crucial date featuring five-star receivers Calvin Russell and Jireh Edwards. Unfortunately for Gators fans, Florida is no longer in the race for Russell, who made his top three choices without including the team. Edwards, too, is predicted to opt for Alabama over Florida’s continued efforts.

Building a Strong Future

As the Gators continue their chase, there are bright spots in their 2026 recruiting class. According to WCJB, the class has risen to 14th nationally, boasting one five-star, seven four-stars, and six three-stars. Recent commitments include Desmond Green, a four-star interior lineman who stands at 6’4.5” and weighs a hefty 354 pounds.

The current lineup for Florida’s recruiting class includes promising talents such as:

  • JaReylan McCoy, DE, 6′7″, 260 lbs, Tupelo, MS
  • Will Griffin, QB-PP, 6′4″, 230 lbs, Tampa, FL
  • Carsyn Baker, RB, 6′1″, 195 lbs, Fairburn, GA
