Cocoa Village Parking Overhaul: 75 New Spaces Coming by September!

Cocoa Village, Cocoa, FL, USA - The city of Cocoa is moving forward with an ambitious plan to enhance parking availability in Cocoa Village through the Lee Wenner Park Parking Redesign Project. Launched back in September 2024, this endeavor is focused on adding nearly 75 much-needed parking spaces while ensuring that boat trailer parking remains accessible for boaters using the boat ramp. The project is slated for completion in September 2025, according to Space Coast Daily.

This $1.8 million project, funded by the Cocoa Community Redevelopment Agency, is being managed by Doug Wilson Enterprises, which is based in Cape Canaveral. While construction is underway, several amenities within Lee Wenner Park—including its parking lot and the Captain Ed Lanni T-Dock—have been closed. Nonetheless, local businesses are eagerly awaiting the project’s completion, optimistic about the surge in foot traffic it could bring.

Project Timeline and Developments

The timeline for the Lee Wenner Park renovation has seen its share of ups and downs. The initiative kicked off with contractor mobilization on September 9, 2024. After a productive start, utility work by Florida City Gas faced delays due to permitting issues, pushing back portions of the project. However, utility work finally wrapped up by the end of May 2025, allowing the main contractor to restart work as of June 9. The community can expect to see paving done in the coming weeks, along with new lighting installations by Florida Power and Light, and additional landscaping and irrigation work.

Moreover, although some of the original landscaping will be lost to the parking redesign, plans are underway to restore and beautify this green space during the final phase of the project.
