Beloved Community Figure Robert Haller Passes at 92, Remembered Fondly

In a poignant farewell, the community of Sebring, Florida, mourns the loss of Robert „Bob“ L. Haller, who passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on September 2, 1932, in Wanamingo, Minnesota, Bob’s life journey was marked by family, resilience, and a spirit of service. He was the son of Harry and Selma Haller and led a rich life that not only touched his beloved family but also left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

After delivering his part during two years of service in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Hawaii as a cook, Bob returned to the fields of Minnesota. Farming with his father kept his hands busy, and even after retirement, he continued contributing to the community by working at a local elevator. His nurturing nature became even more pronounced when he aided his late wife Vi in running a daycare, providing support to countless families.

A Life of Family and Love

Bob is survived by his partner Phyllis Gray, with whom he shared 13 years of companionship in Avon Park, as well as a large family: children Mary Schumacher, Cindy Fandel, Rick Eggert, Randy Eggert, Les Eggert, and Vicki Dietz. His legacy extends to an astonishing 27 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Vi Haller and children Ron Haller and Libby Denny, creating a meaningful yet bittersweet tapestry of life and loss.

Those who knew Bob often praised him for his kindness, humorous nature, and frugality. Affectionately remembered for his love of cooking, entertaining, and antiquing, he believed in the simple joys of life—camping surrounded by family, for instance—reminding us that these moments mean the world. A Celebration of Life is set for September 13, 2025, at the Kenyon VFW in Kenyon, Minnesota, from 1 PM to 4 PM, where friends and family will come together to remember a man who touched so many lives.
