Today, we remember Barbara Rose Stennett, a cherished member of our community who passed away at the age of 66 on February 21, 2026. Barbara spent her final moments at home in the loving company of her family after battling cancer for a long time. Born on September 18, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the only daughter of Stanley and Margaret (Miracola) Zglinski.
Barbara’s journey in life took her to various places, including many years spent in Marathon and Lake Placid, Florida. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1977 and became a dedicated member of the Saints Adalbert and Hedwig Parish and the Holy Rosary Church. Her commitment to her community was evident through her work at the BMV and her long-standing membership at VFW Post 4906, where she made significant contributions by supporting veterans and their families through social events and fundraising efforts.
Celebrating a Life of Passion and Community Involvement
A passionate sports fan, Barbara was an avid supporter of the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines, often sharing her enthusiasm with friends and family. She leaves behind three sons: Jonathon and Jasmine Jude, Donnie and Jessica Jude, and Nick and Jordin Jude. Her legacy continues with twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three brothers: Raymon Aloysius Sobecki, Stanley John Zglinski III, and Anthony and Pamela Zglinski. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog, Sammie.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family requests donations be made to VFW Post 4906. Rather than a traditional funeral, a celebration of her life will take place on Friday, February 27, 2026, at VFW Post 4906 in Toledo, Ohio, starting at 4:00 PM. This gathering will reflect the love and warmth that Barbara brought into the lives of those around her.
Understanding Cancer’s Impact
The journey through cancer is a challenging one, not just for those diagnosed but for their families and communities. According to the German Cancer Information Service, cancer remains a significant health concern globally. The Center for Cancer Registry Data (ZfKD) at the Robert Koch Institute compiles and analyzes data on cancer occurrences, providing a clearer picture of its impact through regular reports and public access to detailed cancer statistics. Understanding these statistics is crucial as they highlight the prevalence and prognosis of various types of cancer, which can aid in awareness and prevention efforts.
As we reflect on Barbara’s life, we are reminded of the importance of community support and the ongoing fight against cancer. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her contributions will not be forgotten.
