It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jason Scott Foures, who left us on January 16, 2026, in Nashville, TN, at the age of 54. Jason is survived by his loving parents, Lynda K. Long and Steven H. Foures, along with many cousins and special friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alton and Lucile Long, Mack and Gladys Foures, and his cousin, Russell Johnson. Jason’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of service, education, and a deep passion for music.
Born and raised in Florida, Jason graduated from South Plantation High School in Fort Lauderdale. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. Jason was not just academically inclined; he also qualified as an Emergency Medical Technician, showcasing his dedication to helping others. His career was diverse, including roles as a store manager at Sunshine Groceries in Nashville and at Whole Foods in South Beach, where he honed his leadership skills.
A Life Dedicated to Service and Education
Jason’s heart was always in emergency medicine, as he worked as a tech in the Emergency Room at Lee Memorial Hospital. His commitment to education led him to become a math teacher, where he not only taught but also coached basketball and volleyball in Southwest Florida. His last teaching role was in Lithia before he returned to Nashville, where he continued to make a difference in the lives of young people.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jason was passionate about music. In his final years, he dedicated time to writing music, expressing his creativity and love for the art form. He also played a significant role in his community by volunteering at the fire department in Pine Island, FL, following the events of 9/11. His spirit of service extended to performing at local churches in Lithia and Zephyrhills, where he shared his musical talents with others.
Celebrating Jason’s Life
A celebration of Jason’s life is scheduled for April 25, 2026, in Eustis, Florida. The day will begin with a graveside service at 12 noon at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm in Hamlin and Hilbish Chapel, Eustis, FL. In honor of his commitment to youth, a Jason Scott Foures Music Fund has been established to support disadvantaged youth in their musical pursuits.
