In a tragic incident that has shaken the community of Leesburg, a 52-year-old man named Matthew Davis lost his life following a late-night pedestrian accident. The crash occurred on April 28 at approximately 8:37 PM on Citrus Boulevard, just north of North Shore Drive.

According to reports, Davis was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro driven by 66-year-old Henry Rolle, also from Leesburg. Emergency responders from Lake County Fire Rescue and the Leesburg Fire Department arrived on the scene promptly, providing critical treatment to Davis, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Investigation and Aftermath

Despite the efforts of first responders, Davis was later transported to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. In the wake of the accident, the northbound lanes of Citrus Boulevard were closed for about four hours to facilitate a thorough investigation. The road was reopened late that night.

The Leesburg Police Department’s traffic unit is currently leading the investigation into this tragic event. As of April 29, no charges had been filed against Rolle.
