Minneola Welcomes New K-8 School Focusing on Aviation and Engineering!

Minneola, Florida, USA - In a move that underscores the rapid development in Lake County, Florida, the new Minneola Horizon Academy, a K-8 school, is set to open its doors on August 11, 2025. District officials and local leaders gathered for a ceremonial ribbon-cutting to mark the occasion. As Minneola’s population surges—from approximately 13,973 in 2020 to an estimated 20,531 in 2025, marking a substantial growth of 44.53%—the new school is responding to an urgent educational demand. Current Lake County Schools facilities were simply unable to accommodate the fast-growing student enrollment. The Minneola Horizon Academy is being constructed next to a new subdivision, projected to add at least 10,000 homes, making the need for this new school all the more pressing. Currently, the nearest public elementary school is 6.5 miles away.

The $65 million project has been funded entirely through impact fees from these new housing units—a clear indicator of the local government’s commitment to develop comprehensive educational facilities that keep pace with communal growth. With construction halfway complete, crews are eagerly preparing for internal work as they look forward to the school’s opening.
