As of February 28, 2026, exciting developments are underway at the AdventHealth Winter Garden in Winter Garden, Florida. The hospital is currently undergoing a significant expansion with a $145 million investment dedicated to a new patient tower. This construction project not only enhances the hospital’s capabilities but is also part of a broader $188.2 million campus investment initiative.

The patient tower expansion, located at 2000 Fowler Grove Boulevard, will add three new floors to the existing four-story hospital, bringing the total height to seven stories. Designed by HuntonBrady Architects and constructed by Brasfield & Gorrie, this new addition will introduce approximately 105,000 square feet of clinical and inpatient space, along with the addition of 80 new inpatient beds. Initially, 40 beds will be available at the opening, with a shell space for another 40 beds to be activated in the future.

Innovative Healthcare Services

A notable highlight of this expansion is the introduction of women’s health services, marking the first time that obstetric and delivery services will be offered at this location. The new floor will feature nine labor and delivery beds, ten postpartum beds, and two operating rooms specifically designed for cesarean sections. Furthermore, plans are in place for a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to be developed in the future.

As of now, the structure of the patient tower was completed in July 2025, and current progress includes interior finishing, installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and exterior cladding work. The tower is slated for completion in September 2026. Alongside the patient tower, a separate cancer institute, covering 60,000 square feet and costing $43.2 million, is also being developed on the campus. This institute will provide radiation oncology, medical oncology, PET imaging, and wellness components, including an Eden Spa and boutique, with an opening planned for July 2026.

Expanding Capacity and Workforce

Both projects will collectively add approximately 165,000 square feet of new medical space to the campus, creating over 100 new medical and support jobs. Since its opening in 2016, AdventHealth Winter Garden has been designed for phased vertical expansions, allowing for continued growth and improved healthcare services in the community.

This investment in healthcare infrastructure comes at a time when many hospitals face the urgent need for modernization. According to a report by PwC, German hospitals must significantly invest in their buildings and infrastructure to remain competitive, with outdated structures leading to high maintenance and operational costs. In 2021, the asset depreciation rate was reported at 58 percent across various hospital providers, indicating a pressing need for upgrades, which has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and rising operational costs due to the Ukraine crisis. This context underscores the importance of AdventHealth Winter Garden’s expansion as a proactive step towards ensuring quality healthcare in the region.
