Today is the 10th of March 2026, and exciting developments are on the horizon for Kissimmee, Florida. Nopetro Energy has announced plans to build a new compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station at 100 N. Alaska Ave. This marks a significant milestone as it celebrates a decade-long partnership with LYNX, the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority.

The new station will feature two fueling lanes and two dispensers, designed to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the LYNX transportation system. Scheduled to be operational shortly after its completion on August 31, 2026, this facility will run on 100% renewable natural gas (RNG), further contributing to sustainable energy practices in the region.

Strengthening Public Transit

Jorge Herrera, CEO of Nopetro, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating that the new facility will significantly bolster LYNX’s ability to operate a modern, lower-emission fleet. Over the past ten years, Nopetro has played a pivotal role in supporting LYNX with infrastructure design, construction, maintenance, fleet conversion, and revenue-sharing.

The Kissimmee station will become the 15th CNG facility operated by Nopetro in Florida, underscoring their commitment to developing a robust network of clean fuel options. CNG is increasingly favored by public transit operators due to its lower and stable pricing compared to diesel, alongside reduced emissions and reliable performance for high-mileage fleets.

Investing in Renewable Energy

Nopetro is also making strides in renewable natural gas infrastructure across Florida. Recently, the company announced a $50 million investment in a RNG facility in Manatee County, which is expected to generate enough energy to power approximately 4,500 homes annually. Additionally, Nopetro’s RNG facility in Vero Beach has been successfully producing fuel for buses and trucks since the third quarter of 2025.

As the demand for cleaner energy sources grows, Nopetro’s commitment to renewable energy initiatives is paving the way for a more sustainable future in public transportation.
