New Chabad Leaders Aimed at Empowering Youth in North Orlando!
Rabbi Levi and Henya Shusterman, along with their daughter Chaya, are packing their bags for an exciting new chapter in Longwood, Florida. This dynamic family is set to move to North Orlando, dedicated to a mission known as shlichus, intended to strengthen Jewish outreach in the area. Their arrival promises a renewed focus on youth programs, which will benefit not just Longwood but also the surrounding communities of Lake Mary and Sanford. This initiative is part of a broader effort by Chabad of North Orlando to foster connections among young families in the region.
Joining the established Majesky family, Rabbi Levi and Henya will work closely with Rabbi Yanky and Chanshy Majesky, who have already been nurturing the local community for over 15 years. With the Shustermans on board, the scope of programs is set to expand, making it an exciting time for Jewish life in this part of Florida. Planned programs include Shabbat gatherings for young families, Hebrew School, Cteen, Cteen Jr., summer camps, and various holiday events.
Focus on Youth Programs
The Shustermans‘ dedication to youth development in the Jewish community is evident. Both Rabbi Levi and Henya bring impressive backgrounds to their new roles. Rabbi Levi has extensive experience with shlichus roles across several locations, including Pittsburgh, Tel Aviv, and Italy. His educational foundation from Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch in Morristown and hands-on experience in Crown Heights at Darchai Menachem equip him well for this undertaking.
Henya, who also has a rich history in shlichus—having worked in Monsey and Baltimore—adds value with her extensive experience in teaching and nurturing young minds. Her experiences include teaching in Hebrew schools, leading summer camps, and running preschools across diverse locales, such as Crown Heights, Manhattan, Mexico, and Canada. The Shustermans aim to make a significant impact in a growing community that has long awaited their arrival and fresh initiatives.
A Warm Welcome
For the Shustermans, embarking on this shlichus mission has been a long-held dream. After months of searching, they found a perfect opportunity to facilitate important change within the local Jewish community. The family aims to invite friends and supporters to help them in connecting young families to a rich Jewish life—what some might call Yiddishkeit.
The assistance from the Majeskys is invaluable, and with both families working in tandem, the community is poised for growth. Rabbi Yanky and Chanshy have laid a solid foundation over the past 15 years, and now, with the Shustermans joining forces, the horizon looks bright for Chabad of North Orlando.
This partnership is also reflective of a broader trend within Chabad communities nationwide, focusing on outreach and youth engagement. Efforts like these echo the mission of Chabad’s outreach programs, where the emphasis is on creating a vibrant community that encourages participation among families through engaging activities and resources.
