Arajet Launches Direct Flights from Orlando to Punta Cana, Boosting Travel!
Arajet, the flagship airline of the Dominican Republic, has announced the exciting launch of its inaugural route from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) set to take off on October 27, 2025. This new service will operate three times a week, every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, providing an attractive travel option for anyone looking to soak up the sun in Punta Cana.
With this route, Arajet not only enhances travel opportunities for the people of Central Florida but also connects the Sunshine State with six key cities in Latin America, including Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Mexico City, Córdoba, and Lima. As the sole international airline operating at Orlando Sanford, Arajet is poised to make a significant impact on Florida’s international travel landscape.
A Warm Welcome at Orlando Sanford
Nicole Martz, President of SFB, shared her enthusiasm about this new partnership, marking an important return of international services to the airport. The demand for flights from Florida residents has been strong, following the success of Arajet’s existing flights to Miami. Orlando is now the second city in Florida served by Arajet as part of its U.S. expansion strategy.
Looking ahead, Arajet plans to bolster its U.S. routes further by introducing additional services to Chicago and Boston in November 2025. The airline’s approach includes a modern fleet combined with competitive fares and a strong focus on customer satisfaction, all while aiming to reshape the Caribbean travel experience.
Orlando’s Travel Landscape
What makes Orlando such a sought-after destination? For starters, it’s not just home to Disney World and Universal Studios; it’s also an important business hub. With a metropolitan area boasting over 2.5 million residents and over 57.7 million passengers flying through Orlando International Airport (MCO) in 2023, Orlando ranks as the 7th busiest airport in the U.S. and a global leader in passenger traffic.
MCO’s impressive passenger figures are akin to major world hubs like Shanghai, Seoul, and Singapore. It’s impressive to think that Orlando, famous for its attractions, is the engine that drives a large part of Florida’s tourism economy. Over 40 airlines are currently servicing the airport, with the top seven airlines responsible for nearly 90% of the air traffic.
| Airline | Market Share | Flights |
|---|---|---|
| Southwest Airlines | 25% | 94,000+ |
| Spirit Airlines | 14% | 51,000 |
