As the new year kicks off, the Farmingdale State College indoor track and field teams are back in action, showcasing their talents at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. This event marks an exciting start to the 2026 competition season, and the athletes certainly made their presence felt.
Among the standout performances, men’s high jumpers Ethan Zacarolli, a freshman from Hillsdale, N.Y., and senior John Juste from Uniondale, N.Y., both cleared an impressive height of 1.93 meters (6-4), leading their event. Zacarolli also demonstrated his versatility by finishing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.74 seconds. The men’s 4×200 meter relay team, which included Daniel Akpan, Nathaniel White, Xavier Anthony, and Dontay Taylor, secured a solid fourth place with a time of 1:32.67.
Women’s Highlights
The women’s team also had noteworthy performances, highlighted by junior Mishell Delgado from the Bronx, N.Y. She cleared 2.75 meters (9-0.25) in the pole vault, earning her a spot at No. 3 on the school’s all-time performance list. Meanwhile, the women’s 4×200 meter relay team, featuring Olivia Finnegan, Emily Graziano, Mia Harris, and Amelia Vitale, finished strong in sixth place with a time of 1:53.46.
As the teams look ahead, their next competition is set for January 17 at the Coast Guard Academy’s Winter Invite No. 1 in New London, Conn. The athletes are eager to build on their successes and continue to push their limits as the season progresses.
