Doral Academy Star Meagan Villazon Crowned 2025 Miss Softball!

Doral, Florida, USA - On June 16, 2025, Meagan Villazon from Doral Academy earned the prestigious title of Florida Dairy Farmers 2025 Miss Softball, showcasing her exceptional talent on the field. In a remarkable season, she led her team to a Class 6A state title with an impressive 26-1 record, also making headlines with a stellar 0.63 earned run average. Throughout 145 innings, Villazon struck out a jaw-dropping 261 batters, while also impressing at the plate with a .475 batting average, including nine doubles, two home runs, and a remarkable 45 RBIs. Her achievements earned her 12 out of 22 first-place votes, accumulating a total of 159 points in the voting process. Leah Stevens of Matanzas finished a respectable second with 105 points, followed closely by Morgen Talley of Calvary Christian with 83 points. In conjunction with Villazon’s accolades, the Florida Dairy Farmers also honored Mark Boretti of Wellington High School as the 2025 Softball Coach of the Year. He secured six of 20 first-place votes, totaling 122 points, while Taryn Gray from Fort Walton Beach took second place among coaches with 84 points.

The Florida Dairy Farmers sponsor the Florida Dairy Farmers High School Sports Awards program, a vital initiative established in 1992 that continues to promote and recognize student-athletes statewide. This program—one of the longest-running sports awards initiatives in the country—has honored more than 5,000 athletes and coaches since its inception. Athletes who have received these accolades over the years have gone on to achieve great successes at collegiate levels, professional sports, and even the Olympic Games. To honor these exemplary individuals, a total of $50,000 in scholarships will be awarded to 24 students, with each receiving $1,700. Additionally, one male and one female student-athlete will be designated as the Ronald N. Davis Scholar-Athletes of the Year, earning an additional $4,600 each, for a combined total of $6,300. The selected students must meet specific eligibility criteria, including maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 and earning varsity letters in multiple sports, reflecting the high level of commitment and achievement required to earn such honors, as noted by the FHSAA.

• Christian McGarity (Episcopal): 4.0 GPA, football captain, pre-med aspirations at Florida State University.
• Marco Prieguez (Belen Jesuit): 4.0 GPA, cross-country state champion, plans for studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
