Today is the 8.03.2026, and the excitement from the recent FHSAA State Wrestling Championships is still fresh in the air! Harmony High School’s wrestling team made a remarkable impact, finishing fifth overall and securing three all-state finishes. Their achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of each wrestler and their coach, Vic Lorenzano.
One of the standout performances came from Nathan Barrett, who showcased his skills at 150 lbs. He reached the state championship match after winning two tech fall matches and a semifinal against Nelson Hued with a score of 9-3. However, Barrett faced a tough challenge in the finals against defending champion Armad Williams, where he ultimately lost 5-1. A key moment that could have shifted the match was a disallowed takedown due to an out-of-bounds call. Despite this setback, Barrett’s journey to the finals was nothing short of impressive.
Spotlight on Harmony’s Wrestlers
Other notable place winners from Harmony included Leo Ortiz, who finished in 6th place at 113 lbs, and Sebastian Rodriguez, who secured 4th place at 103 lbs. Ortiz had a close semifinal match against Donovan Jenkins but fell short with a score of 6-4 after leading initially. Nevan Irving also earned 6th place at 132 lbs, contributing to the team’s overall score of 77 points.
St. Cloud’s Carter Rivera also earned all-state honors, finishing 8th in the 120 lbs category despite losing in the 7th place match due to an injury. On the girls’ side, Osceola County saw Aniyah Wayne and Kaetlynn Holt take home all-state honors, finishing 4th and 8th in their respective weight classes at 100 lbs and 235 lbs.
Harmony’s Nathan Lyttle Shines
Adding to the excitement, Nathan Lyttle from Harmony High School emerged as a formidable competitor this season. Training diligently each day at 7:15 AM, Lyttle focused on maintaining his weight of 121 lbs. His hard work paid off, as he achieved an incredible 49 wins last season and became the second wrestler from Harmony to finish a season undefeated, culminating in his individual state championship win in 2025.
Despite battling through a rib injury he sustained the previous year, Lyttle demonstrated resilience and determination. He noted that while rest was the only true remedy for his injury, he pushed through the pain to secure the title, which held significant personal meaning for him. His rib is now fully healed, and he continues to train hard, aiming to win another state championship and earn a medal at the upcoming U17 Pan-American and World Championships as a member of the Puerto Rican national wrestling team.
