Miami-Dade Man Charged with Murder After Shocking Southwest Shooting

Southwest 173rd Street and Homestead Avenue, Miami-Dade County, USA - In a troubling turn of events, a 50-year-old man, identified as McQueen, is facing a second-degree murder charge following a heinous shooting in southwest Miami-Dade. According to Local 10, the incident unfolded on April 30 around 4:46 p.m., near the intersection of Southwest 173rd Street and Homestead Avenue. Deputies responded to the scene where they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

A witness reported that earlier that day, around 2:15 p.m., he had met the victim near West Evergreen Street and Southwest 99th Road, where the victim sat alone. This witness observed McQueen parked nearby in a gray four-door sedan. While they were having a couple of beers, a woman approached the victim and began flirting with him. What began as a casual encounter escalated into a deadly confrontation.

Shooting Details

The altercation took a dark turn when McQueen exited his vehicle, urinated in a nearby field, and retrieved a black handgun. Eyewitness accounts detail that he threatened the victim, stating, “Some things you ain’t supposed to touch,” before opening fire—reportedly shooting the victim approximately four times. This prompted a scream from the woman present, causing the witness to flee the scene on his bicycle. He later identified McQueen as the shooter when shown a photo lineup by investigators.

On June 6, U.S. Marshals tracked McQueen down and arrested him in Jacksonville. He has since been booked into the John E. Goode Pre-Trial Detention Facility and later extradited to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he is currently being held without bond.
