In a shocking turn of events, three men from Georgia have been arrested after attempting to break into the home of Larsa Pippen, a prominent star of the Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Miami and the ex-wife of former NBA star Scottie Pippen. The incident took place in Pinecrest, Florida, and the arrests occurred shortly after the attempted break-in on Sunday.
The suspects, identified as Treison Lachae Booker (23, Powder Springs), Cortez Daymon Johnson (23, Atlanta), and Elijah Eugene Russell (18, Albany), were caught after they smashed several windows at Pippen’s property but failed to gain entry. Fortunately, Larsa was not at home during the attempted burglary; however, she was able to monitor the situation via her alarm system and surveillance cameras, providing real-time information to local authorities.
Desperate Escape
According to the Pinecrest Police Department, the suspects attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle but crashed into another car and subsequently into a fence near Southwest 57th Avenue. After the crash, they abandoned their vehicle and tried to escape on foot. Pinecrest Police Chief Jason Cohen described the pursuit as his first foot chase in 15 years, stating that he personally chased down Russell, who ultimately jumped into the Snapper Creek Canal in an effort to evade capture.
With the quick response of local law enforcement, including the support of the Sheriff’s Office and Coral Gables Police, all three suspects were apprehended. One was located by a K9 unit, while others were caught by police officers. Each man now faces charges of attempted burglary and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with bail set between $7,500 and $8,000. Notably, Russell also has an outstanding warrant from Georgia.
Targeted Attack?
Authorities are investigating whether the break-in was a targeted attack against Larsa Pippen. The Pinecrest Police Department is working to confirm this aspect of the case. The alarming incident reflects broader concerns about safety and security in high-profile neighborhoods.
As we reflect on crime trends, it’s worth noting that burglary rates can fluctuate widely. For context, in Germany, the number of reported burglaries in 2024 was around 90,000, remaining stable compared to previous years. The average damage per burglary has increased, highlighting the ongoing challenges of property protection.
While the situation for Larsa Pippen has thankfully ended without physical harm, it serves as a reminder of the importance of home security measures. Recommendations include installing burglar-resistant locks, utilizing alarm systems, enhancing property visibility with outdoor lighting, and fostering a vigilant neighborhood watch.
