The recent tournaments have showcased the incredible talent and dedication of young wrestlers across the state. From dominating performances to nail-biting matches, the spirit of competition was alive and well this past week.

In the Melrose “Defender” Tournament, the St. Cloud Crush made a notable impact, finishing in 3rd place with a total of 117.5 points. They earned an impressive 9 medals, with standout performances from Sutton Kenning, who clinched the championship in the 215-pound weight class, and both Jack Hamak and Ethan Brott securing 2nd place in their respective categories. The team’s hard work and determination certainly paid off!

Local Teams Shine

Meanwhile, the Little Falls Flyers displayed their prowess by winning both duals at the Minnewaska Triangular, defeating Minnewaska 51-14 and BOLD 71-0. They didn’t stop there; the Flyers also earned 2nd place at the Edina “Hornets” Tournament, racking up a total of 217 points and 11 medals. Champions Seth Ramsdell and Ivan Petrich led the charge, capturing the top spots in their weight classes.

The Sartell Sabres continued their winning streak, overcoming Milaca-Faith Christian 50-13 and Glencoe-Silver Lake 49-20. With 8 wrestlers going 2-0, the Sabres also secured 4th place at the Big Lake “Hornets” Tournament, accumulating 156.5 points and 7 medals. Noah Bartkowicz, Jayce Gruber, and Peyton Allen each brought home championships in their respective categories, showing the depth of talent within the team.

Turning to the ROCORI Spartans, they showcased their strength at the HLWW tournament, earning 10 medals and 5 championships. Notable winners included Jaxon Lind and Trey Kraemer, both of whom secured titles in their weight classes. The Spartans also performed well at the Morris “Tigers” tournament, finishing with 198 points and 10 medal winners, highlighting their consistency throughout the season.

On the other hand, the Paynesville Bulldogs stole the spotlight at the Melrose “Defender” Tournament, winning the championship with 13 place winners! Their star wrestlers, Adrian Anaya, Tyson Meagher, and Jamison Meagher, all took home titles, solidifying their place as a formidable team in the league.
