Excitement Builds for Tossed: Vero Beach's Freshest Eatery Opening Soon!

Exciting developments are on the horizon for the culinary scene in Vero Beach with the anticipated opening of Tossed, a new restaurant slated to debut in October 2025. According to TCPalm, this modern, market-style eatery is the brainchild of John and Heather Chianis, who are already well-known in the area as the owners of Pepper & Salt BBQ, which they opened in 2022. Their latest venture promises to focus on flavor, freshness, and creativity, with menu options that include build-your-own salads, grain bowls, and wraps featuring a wide variety of ingredients.

Located at 97 Royal Palm Pointe, Tossed will take over the space previously occupied by Wood N’ Spoon. The Chianis team is excited to bring a unique dining experience to the local community, aiming to cater to those who appreciate fresh and healthy food choices.

From BBQ to Salads

John and Heather Chianis’ journey into the world of food began with a hobby of smoking meats. They moved from Houston, Texas, to Vero Beach after the birth of their first child, seeking a slower pace of life. Their initial foray into the culinary world with Pepper & Salt BBQ brought Central Texas barbecue to the area, and with Tossed, they are expanding their repertoire to healthier fare.

Interestingly, the Chianis family isn’t slowing down. They also have plans for another restaurant at Hogan Yards near Vero Beach Regional Airport, which will feature a different menu altogether. Alongside this, they recently opened Pepper & Salt MKT, a breakfast spot that offers specialty coffee and a marketplace experience, showcasing their commitment to varied dining options in the community.

A Culinary Hub

But Tossed isn’t the only fresh endeavor in Vero Beach. Just a stone’s throw away, another location of Pepper & Salt BBQ is gearing up for launch at 2745 St. Lucie Blvd. This new venue promises not just barbecue but also craft beer, pickleball, and live music, all set within the charm of an old citrus packing house. As Tom Corr, one of the business partners, highlighted, preserving the historic nature of the building is a priority, adding to the town’s character.

The larger Vero Beach dining scene is shifting towards organic and sustainable practices, as noted on VBFL. The trend of sourcing ingredients locally has picked up steam, with restaurants like BREW and Osceola Bistro committed to fresh, seasonal dishes and sustainability. Riverside Café also stands out, promising up to 70% of its produce from within 100 miles, paired with stunning views of the Indian River Lagoon.

The growing popularity of farm-to-table restaurants speaks not only to the community’s desire for nutritious meals but also to a deep-seated commitment to supporting local agriculture. The vibrant local food culture is celebrated every year at the Local Food Feast, which highlights sustainable food systems and educates the community.

As Tossed gears up to open its doors, the excitement in Vero Beach is palpable. With its focus on creative, healthy dining and the surrounding community’s commitment to sustainability, this new venture is set to make waves among both locals and visitors alike.

Whether you’re craving a crisp salad or exploring the creative culinary landscape of Vero Beach, it seems there’s something for everyone. So let’s raise a toast to fresh food and new beginnings in this charming coastal town!
