As of today, March 2, 2026, the fast-food scene in Port St. Lucie, Florida, is gearing up for some exciting changes! With 13 McDonald’s restaurants already serving the St. Lucie County area, including seven in Port St. Lucie alone, the demand for more convenient dining options is evident. The latest news is that a new McDonald’s is set to open in Port St. Lucie as part of a planned shopping center.
This new establishment will be located at the intersection of S.W. Port St. Lucie Blvd. and S.W. Becker Rd., within a shopping center that is expected to feature several other businesses. The Morgan Company, in partnership with Casto Net Lease, acquired 15 acres of land for this project on February 13, 2026. Construction is slated to begin in the summer of 2026, with the shopping center expected to be completed by 2027.
New McDonald’s Location Details
In addition to the new shopping center, another McDonald’s is set to make its mark at 10180 S. U.S. 1, right at the intersection with Southeast Jennings Road. The city council has already approved plans for this location, which will boast a dual drive-thru feature to cater to the growing number of drive-thru customers.
This new restaurant will span 3,859 square feet, sitting on 1.56 acres of land that was previously home to a Sonny’s BBQ restaurant, which is set to be demolished. The project is being managed by Daniel P. Coyne & Gail A. Coyne, represented by Daryl Johnson from Corporate Property Services, Inc. The site will include a dual drive-thru capable of accommodating up to 15 vehicles, which means less waiting time for those on the go!
Traffic analysis indicates that the new location will generate approximately 857 new daily trips, with 86 during the morning peak and 57 in the evening. It’s designed to ensure smooth access with three entry points, including two internal driveways and one right-in/right-out access on SE Jennings Road. Additionally, there will be 54 parking spaces available, exceeding the required 52.
Community Impact and Future Plans
The approval process for this new McDonald’s included backing from the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the Planning and Zoning Committee, which recommended approval in August 2025. The final special use permit was granted by the city on August 25, 2025, signaling strong community support for this development. The new restaurant is anticipated to create jobs and provide an affordable dining option for local residents while adhering to zoning regulations.
Beyond Port St. Lucie, McDonald’s is planning a national expansion across the United States, aiming to open around 900 new restaurants in the next four years and reach a total of 50,000 locations globally by 2027. This expansion includes new locations in Northeast Florida and renovations to existing sites as part of the company’s growth strategy.
