This unfortunate motorcyclist was traveling north when the accident occurred north of the U.S. 90 exit. He was airlifted to UF Health Shands and is currently listed in critical condition.
Focusing back on the tragic crash in Gainesville, preliminary information reveals that a 70-year-old man from Newberry was killed when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck. The accident, which occurred around 2:07 PM, involved the pickup making a left turn from Northwest 43rd Street while the motorcycle was approaching from Northwest 37th Place. The two vehicles met in the median, leading to devastating consequences.
The motorcyclist’s female passenger, a 70-year-old woman from Gainesville, sustained critical injuries and required immediate surgery after the incident. Meanwhile, the 41-year-old driver of the pickup, a Gainesville resident, fortunately did not suffer any serious injuries. Both individuals on the motorcycle were transported to the hospital, but sadly, the male passenger was pronounced dead upon arrival.
