Firefighter James “Kevin” Crews of the Hilliard Volunteer Fire Department tragically passed away on April 23, 2026, after experiencing a medical emergency while bravely battling the Old Dixie Highway Fire. At 59 years old, his dedication and service to the community will not be forgotten.
Crews was assigned to Station 4 in Hilliard and was known for his commitment to public service. He was described by colleagues as an engaged public servant who was beloved by the community he served. Funeral Arrangements
In honor of his service, visitation for Firefighter Crews will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Nassau Funeral Home, located at 541720 US-1, Callahan, FL 32011. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the West Church, situated at 550974 US-1, Hilliard, FL 32046.
The procession will begin at 8:30 AM from the Nassau Funeral Home and will follow a route north on US-1, with several turns leading to the church.
