Today is the 6th of March, 2026, and Jacksonville University’s women’s basketball team is making headlines as they advance to the semifinals of the ASUN Tournament. Just a day ago, on March 5, the Dolphins defeated West Georgia with a score of 86-77, showcasing impressive skill and determination despite facing significant challenges.

The Dolphins entered the quarterfinal game without three key players, including the ASUN Player of the Year, Priscilla Williams, due to suspensions following a fight during a game against the University of North Florida (UNF) on February 27. Senior Priscilla Williams, sophomore Comari Mitchell, and freshman Aniah Smith were all sidelined after receiving Flagrant 2 fouls during the altercation, which resulted in the entire JU bench being ejected and Coach Special Jennings also receiving an ejection.

Standout Performances

Despite the absence of their star players, Jacksonville’s roster stepped up. Makiya Miller, in a career-high performance, scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Tatum Brown played a remarkable 40 minutes without any turnovers. The Dolphins led by double digits for most of the game, even extending their lead to as much as 18 points in the second quarter.

Other notable contributions came from Mariah Knight, who scored 18 points off the bench, and Bailey Burns, who added 12 points and four assists. Coach Jennings commended the team’s stamina and resilience, highlighting how they managed to secure their first 20-win season since 2018.

Looking Ahead

Jacksonville University is now gearing up to face No. 3 Central Arkansas on March 7 at 1:30 p.m. Central Arkansas secured their spot in the semifinals by defeating North Alabama 67-56. Meanwhile, Stetson ended Florida Gulf Coast’s streak of seven consecutive conference tournament titles with a 70-63 victory, and Austin Peay upset Eastern Kentucky 45-41, setting up an exciting semifinal matchup against Stetson.

The ASUN men’s and women’s tournaments will run from March 3-9 at various venues, including UNF Arena and VyStar Arena. The excitement is palpable as teams vie for the championship titles on March 7 and March 9.
