Today is March 25, 2026, and Bartow is buzzing with upcoming events and important city updates. As residents prepare for the city’s future, several key happenings are on the horizon that everyone should keep an eye on.
Mark your calendars for March 16, 2026, when the city of Bartow will hold a city commission meeting. This session promises to be accessible to all, as it will be broadcasted live on Boxcast and Facebook. This is an excellent opportunity for community members to engage with local government and stay informed about city decisions.
Canvassing Board Meetings and Elections
In addition to the city commission meeting, the Canvassing Board Meetings will take place four times in April to evaluate the upcoming regular elections scheduled for April 7. The board comprises key figures in the community, including City Manager Mike Herr, City Attorney Sean R. Parker, and City Clerk Jacqueline Poole. They will be joined by Deputy members Assistant City Attorney Savannah Cerullo-Young and Deputy City Clerk Donna Donaldson, ensuring a robust oversight of the electoral process.
As the elections approach, residents are encouraged to participate actively and voice their opinions during the meetings. These gatherings play a crucial role in ensuring transparency and integrity in the electoral process.
Traffic Updates and Infrastructure Improvements
In another important update, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has initiated a traffic light project on Lyle Road. This project began in February and will require the road to be closed for the next 3-4 weeks to facilitate utility line installations. While the road is closed to through traffic, the back entrance to Dairy Queen will remain open during business hours, providing some continuity for local patrons.
Residents should be aware that access to the intersection of Lyle and Route 98 will not be permitted during this time. A recommended detour is available via the signalized intersection at Smith Lane from E.F. Griffin Road. Please plan accordingly to avoid any inconveniences during this period of construction.
Community Engagement Through Technology
To enhance community engagement, the city of Bartow has rolled out the MyBartow app, which utilizes SeeClickFix to allow citizens to report issues and service requests easily. This app is available for both Apple and Android devices in the App Store and Google Play. Residents can also access the SeeClickFix service through the city’s website, enabling them to send requests complete with photos and location information directly to the customer service department.
These technological advancements aim to streamline communication between the city and its residents, making it easier for everyone to report problems and receive timely assistance.
Stay tuned for more updates and don’t forget to participate in the upcoming events. The city of Bartow is committed to fostering a vibrant community where everyone has a voice and a role in shaping the future.
