Today is May 14, 2026, and Liberty County is buzzing with excitement! Just recently, the local water tower, a staple of our community, got a vibrant makeover that’s making waves (in a good way!). The tower is now proudly adorned with a fierce Bulldog—a shout-out to the Liberty County High School’s mascot. Talk about school spirit! This update transforms what was once a plain structure into a symbol of pride and energy for our students and the entire community.

The new mural isn’t just eye-catching; it features the bold words “Home of the Fighting Bulldogs,” visible from the nearby sports fields where our athletes play football, baseball, and beach volleyball. Grant Conyers, a local parent and a staunch supporter of the school, emphasizes how important community backing is for our kids. He’s right! The students can now take pride in their facilities, feeling a sense of belonging that rivals any other school around.

A Community Effort

This project wasn’t just a stroke of luck. It was made possible through the financial support of the city commission, showing just how much we value our local schools. Liberty County Superintendent Kyle Peddie is over the moon about the new look, describing the water tower as a hallmark of our community. He’s got a point—every time I drive by, I feel a little surge of pride.

Peddie also mentioned the tower’s completion comes just in time for the upcoming summer training sessions for our football team. With three state championships in volleyball and softball won since 2020, it’s clear our athletes are a force to be reckoned with! And who knows, maybe this new look will inspire even more victories down the line.

Upcoming Events

<pOn another note, it’s a busy time for Liberty County High School. There’s a softball playoff game against Cottondale that’s been rescheduled to Chipola College, set for May 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM EST. Even better? LCHS remains the home team! Admission is set at $9.00, as per FHSAA regulations. So, if you’re looking for some action, mark your calendars!

And let’s not forget about the recent survey regarding school start times for the 2026-27 year. Florida law now requires middle schools to start after 8:00 AM and high schools after 8:30 AM, which is a change that many parents and students are weighing in on. It’s all part of a broader effort to enhance our educational environment.

Engagement and Support

Also, Liberty County Schools is conducting a Parent Needs Assessment, focusing on improving academic support, after-school programs, and family engagement. They want to hear from you! The survey takes only 3–5 minutes, and responses are kept confidential, so there’s no excuse not to chime in.

In a nutshell, there’s a lot going on in our community. From the revamped water tower to the exciting athletic events and school initiatives, it’s clear Liberty County is a place of pride and engagement.
