JMPHS Beta Club Shines at Regional Summit with Innovative Service Project

Members of the National Beta Club from James Madison Preparatory High School (JMPHS) recently participated in the Georgia Regional Leadership Summit, held at the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, Georgia. Students from several states came together for three days of workshops, team-building activities, and leisure time in the water parks. This event provided an excellent platform for students to develop their leadership skills and connect with peers.

During the summit, keynote speaker Kelly Barnes captivated the audience with her insights on the “Butterfly Effect,” emphasizing how small positive changes can lead to significant impacts in our communities. In line with this, the JMPHS Beta members proposed an ambitious project aimed at establishing Care Closets in Florida schools. These Care Closets are designed to provide needy students with access to food, clothing, and hygiene products without the stigma often associated with such resources. The initiative arose from the realization of the high poverty rates and the devastating effects of hurricanes in Florida, particularly in Madison County. This is an issue that resonates deeply with the students, fueling their commitment to service.

Creative Expression and Recognition

As part of their participation, JMPHS Beta students displayed their artistic talents during the “Beta Blitz,” where they took part in designing T-shirts and merchandise. The designs showcased a hand-drawn depiction of Iron Man, symbolizing the innovation and strength of the Beta members. Their creativity did not go unnoticed, as JMPHS was honored with the Outstanding Leadership School Award, recognizing their teamwork, creativity, and dedication.
