This annual celebration by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recognizes the invaluable contributions of small businesses across the country. It’s been happening for over 60 years, and this year, it’s set to be a real treat!

From May 3rd to 9th, expect a whirlwind of activities. You can look forward to free presentations and business resources aimed at helping entrepreneurs shine. This year’s NSBW is packed with events that not only celebrate small businesses but also showcase their economic impact. But that’s not all! Just a few days later, on May 21st, the American Legion Post 775 & VFW Post 904 are hosting free fishing days. It’s a fantastic way for veterans to unwind and connect with one another. And let’s not forget the exciting events on May 5th and 6th, with a whopping five events each day! Whether you’re looking to have fun or learn something new, there’s something for everyone.
Special Events to Look Out For
On May 30th, there’s a series of featured events from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM that you won’t want to miss. And if you’re a fan of wellness, make sure to check out the 2026 Central Texas Wellness Retreat for Women Veterans happening on May 6th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It’s a wonderful chance for women veterans to focus on their health and well-being in a supportive environment.
Oh, and here’s a fun fact for you: Veteran-owned small businesses account for a whopping $1 trillion in sales each year. With around 3 million workers employed by these businesses, they play a crucial role in the economy. The SBA’s Office of Veterans Business Development is working hard to ensure that these entrepreneurs have the resources they need to thrive. Their programs, like “Boots to Business” and “Military Spouse Pathway to Business,” have trained over 236,000 individuals since 2013!

As we look to the future, get ready for the next National Small Business Week in 2027, set for May 2nd to 8th. And for those interested in veteran entrepreneurship, the 12th National Veterans Small Business Week will be celebrated from November 3rd to 7th this year.
