Panama City Rocks: 92.1 The Bone Launches with Nonstop Music Bash!
In a bold move to captivate rock enthusiasts, JVC Broadcasting is expanding its reach by bringing 92.1 The Bone to Panama City. The new rock station will simulcast on WYYX’s 97.7 FM, taking the stage at 10 a.m. today. This expansion comes as part of JVC’s commitment to provide more musical variety with fewer commercials, responding to an evident demand from local listeners.
Initially known as 97X, the station’s transition to 92.1 The Bone marks a significant change. JVC Broadcasting acquired Magic Broadcasting’s four-station Panama City cluster for $1.25 million back in June, setting the stage for this new chapter in local rock radio. As JVC Broadcasting Owner John Caracciolo stated, the shift aims to meet listener demand for a refreshing radio experience that aligns with their tastes.
A Promising Beginning
To kick off the launch, listeners can expect ten full days of commercial-free music until September 7, 2023. The station has promised an impressive lineup of 9,000 songs in a row, showcasing a deep library of rock music that spans six decades. With a focus on musical variety, expect some lesser-known tracks from iconic artists like Ozzy Osbourne, Led Zeppelin, and Metallica to grace the airwaves.
Market Manager John Griffo is enthusiastic about the new venture, aiming to replicate the success of their popular variety brand, 102.1 The Wave. Programmer Matt Stone emphasized the unique approach they are taking with rock radio, offering surprising song selections that are sure to keep listeners engaged.
As the festivities continue, the station will unveil a full talent lineup starting September 8, highlighted by Matt Stone with „Wake and Bake Mornings,“ Ski with „The No Repeat Workday,“ and Mary Jo in the afternoon. Eddie RBG will take over the evening spot, while Roxy will entertain late-night listeners on The 3rd Shift. The balanced lineup promises to cater to rock fans of all kinds.
Looking to the Future
With JVC Broadcasting’s history of successfully operating 16 radio stations, the company appears well-equipped to make this venture a notable success. Woofy Ramone, a market veteran and the station’s Operations Manager, will join the team in January along with Theo and Stone, ensuring seasoned experience is at the helm of this exciting new station.
As listeners in Panama City gear up for the official launch of 92.1 The Bone, anticipation is building. Will this station become the go-to destination for rock aficionados? There’s certainly something to be said for providing a music experience that champions variety and connection—a trend that seems to resonate well among the audience.
