As the spring season rolls in, local high schools in Florida are gearing up for an exciting time filled with district competitions across various sports. From weightlifting to tennis and flag football, students are preparing to showcase their hard work and dedication. Here’s a rundown of the upcoming district events that you won’t want to miss!

The Boys Weightlifting Districts are set to take place soon, with several schools competing across different classes. Oakleaf will represent in Class 3A, District 3, Region 2, with districts hosted at Nease High School on Saturday, April 11, starting at 9 a.m. Following that, regions will occur at Flagler Palm Coast on April 25 at noon. Middleburg and Ridgeview will participate in Class 2A, District 3, Region 2, with their districts at Suwannee High on April 11 at 10 a.m., and regions at Suwannee on April 25 at 10 a.m. Clay, Fleming Island, and Orange Park will be competing in Class 2A, District 4, Region 2, with their districts at Yulee High on April 8 at 2:30 p.m. and regions at Suwannee on April 25 at 10 a.m. Keystone Heights will compete in Class 1A, District 8, Region 4, with districts at their home turf on April 9 at 3 p.m. and regions also at Keystone Heights on April 25 at 4 p.m. The state meet is scheduled for May 6-8 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. Tennis Districts Heat Up

In addition to weightlifting, the Boys and Girls Tennis Districts are also approaching. Oakleaf will compete in Class 4A, District 1, Region 1, with the boys’ districts at Atlantic Coast High School on April 13-14 at 8 a.m. The girls will host their districts at Oakleaf during the same time. Meanwhile, Fleming Island, Ridgeview, Orange Park, and Middleburg will compete in Class 3A, District 3, Region 2, with both boys and girls’ districts hosted by Ridgeview at Eagle Harbor Tennis Club on April 13-14 at 5 p.m. Clay’s districts are still to be determined in Class 3A, District 4, Region 2. St. Johns Country Day School will be playing in Class 1A, District 3, Region 2, with both boys and girls’ districts at Episcopal High School on April 13-14 at 8 a.m. Lastly, Keystone Heights will have their boys and girls’ district finals at Suwannee on April 15-16 in Class 2A, District 2, Region 1.

As the district competitions commence, Boys and Girls Lacrosse is also in full swing. The Fleming Island girls will compete in Class 1A, District 3, Region 1, starting with a first-round bye on April 8 and their first game on April 10 at FIHS against St. Augustine at 6 p.m. The boys’ team will also have a first-round bye and will play their first game at FIHS against Sandalwood on April 10 at 7 p.m.

Flag Football Competitions

Flag football is another thrilling sport to watch this season. The Keystone Heights team will be competing in Class 1A, District 4, Region 1, from April 20-23, with higher seeds hosting the games. The competing teams include Palatka, Bradford, Santa Fe, and others. In Class 3A, District 3, Region 1, Fleming Island, Middleburg, and Orange Park will take the field starting April 20, while Clay and Ridgeview will be in Class 2A, District 5, Region 2, with their districts at Baker County from April 20-23. Oakleaf will compete in Class 4A, District 1, Region 1, with their districts from April 20-22, culminating in semifinals and finals at Oakleaf on April 21 and 22.
