Get ready, Worthington Springs! The highly anticipated 31st Annual Community Prayer Breakfast is just around the corner! Hosted by the Worthington Early Risers Kiwanis Club, this inspiring event will take place on March 28th at 8 AM, welcoming everyone to gather at the American Reformed Church in Worthington. This year’s breakfast aims to renew the sense of community and faith among all attendees.

One of the highlights of the morning will be the heartfelt story shared by 10-year-old Alaina Jans from Fulda. Alaina will recount her incredible journey of surviving leukemia, a battle she began in May 2022. With her last chemotherapy session completed on July 13, 2024, Alaina and her mother Jenna will emphasize the vital role that faith and community support play during challenging times. Their story is a testament to hope, and it aims to uplift those who may be facing similar struggles.

Community Spirit and Support

This event isn’t just about sharing stories; it’s also a time for the community to come together and support one another. Pastors Alan Salwei from the American Reformed Church and Lucio Berumen from Indian Lake Baptist Church will be in attendance, lending their voices to the morning’s message of hope. Plus, the Boy Scouts will conduct a flag ceremony, adding a patriotic touch to the proceedings.

The Kiwanis Club, led by President Rich Besel, is excited to highlight the importance of hope in our lives. The breakfast will be catered by Hy-Vee, ensuring everyone leaves with both a full belly and a full heart. Tickets are available for purchase at several local banks and through Kiwanis members, making it easy for everyone to join in.

More Community Events to Look Forward To

The Community Prayer Breakfast is just one of the many wonderful initiatives organized by local Kiwanis clubs. For example, the Flipping for Charities: Annual Pancake Festival takes place on the third Saturday in February, while the Lakeland Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is scheduled for the first Thursday in May. These events, among others like the Stuff the Bus Program and the Taking Stock in Children Golf Tournament, showcase the Kiwanis commitment to uplifting the community and supporting those in need.

Additionally, initiatives like the POWER of Word program promote reading among preschoolers in collaboration with the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County. These activities not only foster a sense of community but also provide essential resources and support for families in the area.

Support for Cancer Patients

As we celebrate community and resilience this March, it’s important to recognize organizations that provide ongoing support to cancer patients and their families. Groups like Frauenselbsthilfe Krebs e.V. in Germany offer vital resources for those affected by cancer. They provide psychosocial support, information on social assistance, and representation for cancer patients in health policy. For those in the U.S., similar support networks exist, focusing on community building and shared experiences among cancer survivors.

Join us on March 28th for a morning filled with hope, community spirit, and inspiration. Whether you’re looking to share your own story or simply want to support others, the Community Prayer Breakfast promises to be a memorable event for all!
