Jack Ryan Donovan led the charge for Barron Collier, firing an impressive 4-under 68 to tie for first place individually. Other notable scores for Barron Collier included Ian Psota (73), Zachary Felton (74), and Matt Johnson (75). With this win, Barron Collier now qualifies for the regional tournament in Pompano Beach. Additionally, Gulf Coast’s Gavin Kieffer and Aubrey Rogers’ Mason Stieler secured their spots as individual at-large competitors, both finishing with even-par 72, tying for fifth place.
District 2A-13 Championship Highlights
Over at The Club at Renaissance in Fort Myers, the Fort Myers boys’ team snagged the championship title, edging out Estero by just three strokes. Henry Liebwein was the standout player for Fort Myers, posting a remarkable 3-under 69 to take first place. The rest of the Fort Myers squad included Pedro Olave, Jackson Mills, and Noah Pruss, all scoring 78. Estero’s AJ White finished second overall with an even-par 72. Individual qualifications for regionals went to Riverdale’s Jacob Timmerman (74) and LaBelle’s Zachary Sutton (78), with Timmerman tying for third and Sutton tying for fifth.
The competition was equally fierce at the District 3A-11 Championship held at Twin Isles Country Club in Punta Gorda. Here, Gateway finished second, trailing behind champion Charlotte by a whopping 25 strokes, yet secured a spot in regionals. Beau Rassatt led Gateway with a solid score of 1-under 71, while Felix Flores (89), Brock Schmidt (100), and Jacob Steuber (111) rounded out their scores. Ida Baker’s Thomas Bevan (80) claimed the second overall spot, and Palmetto Ridge’s Ethan Bates (82) tied for fourth, both advancing to regionals as well.
Upcoming Regional Tournaments
Looking ahead, the regional tournaments promise to be just as exciting. Teams that qualified from the district tournaments will compete in their respective regions. Specifically, teams from Districts 1-4 will head to Region 1 tournaments, while those from Districts 5-8 will compete in Region 2 tournaments. The boys’ Region 1-3A tournament is scheduled for November 3 at Twin Rivers Golf Club in Oviedo, while the girls’ Region 1-3A tournament will take place on November 4 at Hawkstone Country Club in Gainesville.
Meanwhile, the state championships are just around the corner, set to be held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills. From November 11-19, the top competitors will battle it out for state titles in various classifications. This year’s schedule includes the Class 3A tournaments on November 11-12, followed by Class 1A on November 14-15, and concluding with Class 2A on November 18-19.
