Get ready, Hillsborough County! This Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Healthy Living Program is throwing a fantastic Community Health Fair at Bethune Park, located at 5809 Edina St., Wimauma, FL 33598. It’s a great opportunity for everyone in the community to come out, grab some free groceries, and learn about health resources—all while having a great time! The grocery distribution kicks off bright and early at 9 AM and runs until 10:30 AM, courtesy of Feeding Tampa Bay. No income restrictions here, folks—everyone is welcome to enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, canned goods, and staples like beans and rice.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg! The health fair is set to continue rocking until noon, featuring free health screenings and immunizations (as supplies allow). You’ll also find helpful information about the Healthy Living Program and the Hillsborough County Health Care Plan. Plus, there will be fun activities for kids, including a chance to win some cool prizes! And for students, mark your calendars for the free ECG heart screenings from 9 AM to 12 PM, provided by the non-profit organization Who We Play For. These screenings are crucial for student athletes, meeting the requirements set by the Florida High School Athletic Association.
What to Expect at the Health Fair
The Healthy Living Program is all about supporting a healthier lifestyle for Hillsborough County residents, offering resources like fitness centers, educational activities, group sports, nutrition counseling, and health screenings. They even provide free courses on essential topics like diabetes prevention and management, weight loss, and healthy eating. It’s a treasure trove of information and support for anyone looking to improve their health.
Each month, the Hillsborough County Healthy Living Program hosts these Community Health Fairs, connecting residents to vital resources and care. The next event is already set for April 18 at People’s Community Park and Life Center, again from 9 AM to 12 PM. These fairs serve as a fantastic way to inform residents about health plans and services, with limited vaccinations available through the Florida Department of Health depending on what they have on hand. Feeding Tampa Bay will be there too, distributing food until 10:30 AM, so there’s no reason not to swing by!
Upcoming Events and Services
In addition to May’s fair, be sure to check out the planned events for the rest of the year. The Healthy Living Program has lined up fairs on June 13 at Plant City CRC, July 18 at Lee Davis CRC, August 22 at SouthShore CRC, September 19 at Plant City CRC, and October 17 at Emanuel P. Johnson Recreation Center. All of these events run from 9 AM to 12 PM, with grocery distribution kicking off at 9 AM. If last month’s fair is any indicator, where they served around 320 families and distributed a whopping 11,000 pounds of food, you won’t want to miss out!
It’s worth noting that while the Healthy Living Program isn’t an insurance provider, they’re a valuable resource for connecting residents to available services and assistance. Case managers will be on-site to help guide attendees through options and eligibility. Whether you need a health screening, a vaccine, or just a little guidance on health care, they’ve got your back!
So grab your family, friends, or even your neighbors, and head over to the health fair this Saturday! With free groceries, health screenings, and activities for the kids, it’s a wonderful way to spend your Saturday morning. For more information, don’t hesitate to call (813) 272-5040, option 7, or visit HCFL.gov/HealthCare. We can’t wait to see you there!
