Cardinals Shine in NFL's Top 100: Wirfs Climbs to 28th!
As the excitement for the NFL season continues to build, the annual „NFL Top 100“ list reveals some fascinating insights into the league’s standout players. This popular ranking, which began airing on June 30, showcases the talent that has made waves throughout the previous season. Among the names that have emerged from the ranks is Tampa Bay Buccaneers tackle Tristan Wirfs, who has achieved an impressive 28th position on the list, soaring up from No. 85 in the previous year.
Wirfs‘ performance has not gone unnoticed. He did not allow a single sack during the entirety of the 2024 regular season, a feat that has become increasingly rare in today’s game. In fact, he has earned the distinction of being the first player ever to achieve first-team All-Pro honors at both left and right tackle. His transition from right to left tackle in 2023 was seamless, and he has continuously set the benchmark for excellence at the position. The statistics are impressive, highlighting that he posted a pass-blocking grade of 93.2 as assessed by Pro Football Focus (PFF), which is the highest among qualified offensive linemen.
Wirfs on the Rise
In addition to no sacks allowed, Wirfs achieved an astonishing 4.7% pressure rate in 2024, a significant improvement from 8.0% in 2023. He was the only left tackle to have no pressures in four games last season, with his overall pressure rate being the lowest among players with over 500 pass-blocking snaps. His athleticism and core strength have not only sharpened the Buccaneers’ offense but also led them to rank in the top five for points scored per game (29.7) and total yards (399.9).
As for the Buccaneers’ overall performance, Wirfs’ presence on the line has significantly contributed to maintaining a solid offensive structure. The Buccaneers have allowed just 3.8% sacks per pass attempt since Wirfs was drafted, a statistic that exemplifies his importance to the team. Additionally, the Buccaneers’ offense boasted the second-best rushing yards per game (147.3) in the league, a testament to Wirfs’ contributions in both the passing and running game.
Looking Ahead
The impending match-up between the Arizona Cardinals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13 of the 2025 season will give Wirfs and his teammates a chance to showcase their skills on a significant stage. The Cardinals also featured three players in the Top 100 rankings: linebacker Josh Sweat at No. 95, tight end Trey McBride at No. 65, and safety Budda Baker at No. 34, making a return to this exclusive club for the sixth consecutive year.
The NFL Top 100 has become an annual highlight, not just for players but for fans eager to see how their favorite athletes rank among the best. This list, driven by votes from current players, reflects the respect and recognition within the league. After all, when it comes to success on the field, there’s something to be said for consistent performance and the kind of grit that players like Tristan Wirfs continue to bring to the game.
