Dundalk, Ireland - On July 15, 2025, the community of Dundalk is mourning the loss of two cherished individuals. Both funerals are set to honor their legacies and provide comfort to grieving families.

Firstly, the announcement of a passing at Nazareth House Nursing Home in Dublin has struck a chord within the local community. This individual, who passed away on July 13, leaves behind a family deeply rooted in love. Predeceased by parents Bernard and Rose, brother Harry, and nephew Martin, they are survived by sisters Mary Begley and Kathleen McFadden, along with a sister-in-law, Catherine. The Rosminian Confreres, nieces, nephews, and extended family also remember their contribution to the community.

Funeral Arrangements

The Funeral Mass for this beloved figure is scheduled for 12 noon on July 16 at the Church of St. Mary, Ravensdale. Following this, the community will gather to lay them to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Such ceremonies serve not just as a farewell but as a celebration of a life well-lived.

Additionally, another resident, Pat, has also crossed to the other side, passing away on July 13 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. Pat, the son of the late Felix and Ellen (née Clarke), leaves behind a family that includes his beloved wife Robin (Kathleen) and their daughter Pamela. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Fionn, Oran, Saorlaith, and Croía, as well as his sisters Martina Thompson and Siobhan Woods.

The funeral arrangements for Pat are handled with care, with reposing at McGeoughs Funeral Home on Jocelyn Street from 3 PM to 7 PM on the day prior to his burial. A house privacy request is in effect during this time. The family will gather on Wednesday morning for a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Peter’s Church, Dromiskin, followed by a burial in Dromiskin Cemetery. Enquiries for Pat’s service can be directed to Oisin and Rosemary Rogers at McGeoughs Funerals.

Catholic Funeral Traditions

As the community rallies around these families in their times of sorrow, it’s important to reflect on the rituals involved in Catholic funerals. Catholic traditions, as outlined by Ireland Live, emphasize the respectful treatment of the deceased, honoring their life and faith.

The process typically begins by notifying the parish priest, who provides spiritual support and guidance through the funeral planning. This is crucial, as families seek to celebrate their loved ones’ lives while adhering to cherished customs. Reputable funeral homes, such as those mentioned by Our Lourdes, are essential partners during this trying time, ensuring every detail is managed with dignity.

For those considering burial or cremation, it’s important to remember that ashes should be treated with respect, as Catholic Funerals outlines. Cremation is permissible but requires suitable arrangements for the interment of ashes. Rituals such as the Vigil Service and the Rite of Committal enrich the ceremony, allowing families and friends to engage in meaningful reflection.

The bereaved community is also invited to partake in bereavement meals, highlighting the importance of support during such difficult times. Dana Eckert leads outreach efforts, reminding families that grief does not have to be faced alone.

As Dundalk comes together to memorialize these beloved individuals, their lives continue to shine through the memories shared and the traditions upheld. May they rest in peace, knowing they are surrounded by a caring community that honors and remembers them.
