Cape Coral's Culinary Boom: New Taverns and Fine Dining on the Horizon!
In a bustling hub of activity, Cape Coral is poised for some exciting new developments, particularly in the dining scene. With the recent completion of the Chiquita Lock removal and an influx of new culinary spots, the City of Cape Coral is making waves—quite literally!
Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter celebrated the swift completion of the Chiquita Lock removal on July 25, which took about 2.5 months and was completed ahead of schedule, a feat that is not common for such projects. With dredging equipment and turbidity barriers now removed, boat traffic can resume along this important waterway, contributing to enhanced water quality and flow. The city has plans for further improvements, including the planting of 3,000 mangroves and the installation of oyster reef balls, as part of a broader initiative to maintain and rejuvenate the South Spreader Waterway.
New Dining Experiences
But that’s not all! In an exciting culinary twist, Oak & Stone is set to unveil its eighth location in Cape Coral in November at 4720 SE 9th Place, Suite 400. Renowned for its gourmet food and craft beer, this new tavern will feature a self-pour craft beer wall, local brews, wines, and cocktails. Menu highlights include mouthwatering Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and smoky gouda mac ’n cheese
Shortly before Oak & Stone opens its doors, Big Nick’s Barbecue is making its debut at The Cove in late September. Transitioning from a drive-thru to a fast-casual dining model, the eatery will expand its menu to include tacos and salads, along with a selection of beer and wine.
The culinary offerings in Cape Coral are further enhanced by the anticipated opening of Aqua, a fine dining seafood and steak restaurant, at The Cove in late December. Mirroring its successful counterparts in Naples and Bonita Springs, this location will feature a spacious 5,500 square foot interior and a stunning 2,500 square foot rooftop bar.
A Flourishing Food Scene
Across the area, it’s not just these three spots that are making waves. Cape Coral and Fort Myers have seen a remarkable surge in new dining establishments. Recent openings such as Palace Pub & Wine Bar, featuring organic wines and charcuterie plates, and Auto Inn Tavern, offering a taste of Italian comfort, are just a few examples of this culinary renaissance. Cookie Plug and Wicked Good Deli have also joined the mix, alongside Two Meatballs in the Kitchen, which now boasts two locations due to the area’s growth.
This vibrant dining landscape is supplemented by the fact that national surveys indicate Americans are dining out about five times a month, with spending on restaurants increasing by 15% in the last year. Cape Coral has become a playground for food lovers eager to try new flavors and menus.
In conclusion, Cape Coral is transforming into a gastronomic hub, fueled by not just new dining options but also infrastructural improvements that enhance the overall living experience. Residents and visitors alike have plenty to look forward to in the coming months!
